Lazy Wednesday

Author: admin | Filed under: Surf Media

Lazy Wednesday from Yves Van den Meerssche on Vimeo.

I surfed like a kook, feeling out of shape, and Katrien couldn’t be bothered to walk down and was shooting for 30min from the deck. A very Lazy Wednesday.

After many onshore days, the water gets ice cold, the swell was 15 sec, the offshore much stronger then it looks, but some 2ft waves with a few bigger sets…every 30min
one of them you can see me bellyboarding after being slapped in the back by the lip , bodyboarding inside, got out but couldn’t get to my feet in the whitewater, what a waste…but the again, what a pleasure to be out again…

MUSIC: STEVE WALSH. CD Coming soon …

My favorite pictures on Flickr.

Author: admin | Filed under: Alaia, Photos, Surf Media, Surfboards

It always blows my mind to see how many worldclass pictures are published on my favorite photo site. Flickr is as good as it gets when you feel like surfing the internet to find some hotspots around the world. I was not able to get in Bidart in time to meet up with Tom Wegener, who was shaping some Alaia’s at the local surfspot. I found some pics though, guess where, yep Flickr :)

You don’t have to watch the whole slideshow, because that’s the only downside of Flickr, there’s just sooo much to see, it’s like a never ending story… But I do feel you could get to know us better but watching our favorite pictures on Flickr. ENJOY !!!

Test Driving the very first LTL Quad 5″10′

Author: admin | Filed under: Uncategorized

Testing the first LTL Quad 5″10′ in small surf. from Yves Van den Meerssche on Vimeo.

Testing a small board in small waves, where I normally would take out a longboard. It’s a good work out ! And I’m convinced that it will improve my longboarding style, riding small boards on small waves shouldn’t have to be frustrating as you know …

Thys Talks about “the perfect board”

Thys Talks about “the perfect board” from Yves Van den Meerssche on Vimeo.

Thys Talks about “the perfect board”. All  I know is that they work for me and I can’t wait to share them with my homiez and get some feedback on how they ride and not just how they look. By the way, I think they look pretty cool, but that’s Stevo’s art work. He’s such a classic guy. Shaping boards is a team sport ! Thanks guys !!!

LTL Surfboards. The Making Of Slideshow

Author: admin | Filed under: Photos, Surf Media

It all started in 2005 but it took us a few years to know what were doing. Buying a couple dozen boards of the rack from the magnatubes surfshop in Jeffreys Bay , test driving them, and figuring out what works for me and what not.

After a few years we got to a point where we started selling our entire private collection to shape LTL surfboards together with Thys Strydom from Rebel. On this slideshow you’ll see work in progress. Stay tuned for more …

Kahi Riding Alaia Style Board

Author: admin | Filed under: Alaia, Surfboards

Roscoe shaped me this alaia, been riding it for about a month and am completely hooked. When the surf is smaller all I ride is this thing. Its made of pine, 5′8″, 1″ thick, tapered rails, and a single concave. It used to be a 6′6″ but we cut about a foot off of it so it would fit in my board bag. Glad to say it still works. Jeffreys Bay is unreal, this place is awesome. Thanks to Louise and Rich Hambloch for filming.

Make sure you check out Kahi’s Blog ! eatdrinksurf.com

That’s the main factor to decide if you should go for a fish or a mini-malibu fun board … That blue board on the left is made for surfers who are willing to spend most of their free time in the water. Pura Vida !
